My Top 5 Sunrise Spots In The Peak District
Mam Tor – This one may divide opinions for being here because its so popular but there’s good reason for it. The easy 10/15 minute hike up from the car park make it a great option for an early start and the views over the Hope valley are arguably some of the best in the Peak District. When the Sky and hills light up with the orange glow, its magical.
Winnat’s Pass – This one is right next to Mam Tor, another one above the pretty village of Castleton, but this has to be my favourite. Again its a short walk from lay-by parking but the views down the valley are incredible.
Dragon’s Back – This hike and ridge line is incredible at sunrise, and the best viewpoint is just up from the famous tree on Chrome Hill – you’ll know it when you see it. This one is so much quieter than the 2 previous as getting here early in the morning takes a little longer – maybe 30-40 minutes, but I LOVE this one!
Crook Hill – With views & a golden light over Ladybower reservoir its easy to see why this one has made it into my top 5. Its a short steep climb up the hill from FREE on street parking but if the fire sky lights up you’ll be glad you made the effort.
The Roaches – The Roaches are a beautiful outcrop of rocks in the Staffordshire Peak District, with a ancient woodland beneath you and a stunning sunrise view this had to be in my top 5.
